Here is a selection of my learning that I wish to share. Not all my work will be perfect all of the time as I am a work in progress. I welcome positive and helpful comments.

Zac Power: Shock Music
|
Author:
|
H.I. Larry
|
Illustrator:
|
Cal Bennet
|
Storyline [summary]
|
Zac is called by the most famous rock band ever and they asked him if he could play the guitar with them and he said yes. Was he serious or was this a set up?.
|
What I liked best
|
I liked the part when Zac figured out the master minds true identity even though he was disguised as a rock band director. But little did Zac know Dr drastics plan was to take over the world by hypnotizing every person in the world with his new “hipno song”.
|
What I didn’t like
|
The part when Zac nearly died by Dr Drastics wrath. But Zac always finds a way out of his trap
|
Favourite character
|
My favourite character is Zac power the main character. He’s my favourite character because he will never fail a mission, Even in tough times when you think he’ll fail he’ll turn the table and come out as the winner.

Olympic Artwork
Olympic art work
Here is a unique piece of artwork that I created along with support from Miss Hills and my classmates.
The first step that we had to make was to go on google and find an olympic athlete, after we found our athlete we had to print the picture off. Then step two was to take a photo of yourself [and we needed our teacher Miss Hills to help us], Ms Hills asked us to look up to the roof like we had just won a gold medal. Step three was to get an A3 paper and rule 4 cm in on the side and the same thing on the top. We had to join these to make the border. Step four was to come up with 2 similes and 2 metaphors for our poster and some speech bubbles and thought bubbles to put the similes and metaphors in.
On the border of my artwork we had to have the olympic values and they are…
- Excellence
- Friendship
- Respect
To make the tessellation we needed to measured a triangle with sides that had to be 3.8 cms, I even made hexagons!. If you don’t know what a tessellation is it’s a repetitive pattern that can’t overlap or have gaps. Did you know that the only polygons that can tessellate by themselves are the hexagon, triangle and square, while the other polygons can’t really tesselate. A polygon is the posh name for a shape, a regular polygon is a shape with all equal sides well a irregular polygon is a shape with all unequal sides.
My challenge for you is:
Can you find the triangles hidden in the hexagons?

Hong Kong STEM challenge
Hong Kong STEM Challenge
These are the materials we used:
6 x long sticks
1 x wooden square
2 x pipe cleaners
2 x straws
1 x 1m ruler
11 x plastic cubes
1 x bunch of popsicle sticks
4 x wooden small flat pieces
4 x wooden small flat pieces
Challenge #1 - Build a structure with a cube as the base:
Challenge 1 was really hard because our structure fell a couple of times. The hard thing about this challenge is that there was a time limit and if it kept falling we would have to start over again. I think we did well for our first structure, but now I think we can do better for the next one.
Challenge #2 - Build the tallest structure that you can and your base can be any size:
Challenge 2 was really hard because we had to build the tallest structure but the problem was it kept tumbling down. We ended up being disqualified because we had to many of one material. But at least we participated and tried, we thought we could complete the next challenge and we did. We think it was because the weight was not equal on both sides. But then we decided to put two blocks on both sides so it would be an equilateral structure..and that was not allowed and we got disqualified.
Challenge #3 - Build a structure with something that balances off the side of it:
Challenge 3 was really easy because the block/stick were sitting on the big flat bored. The hard thing about it was making the little pieces on top balance. We could have done better, just by sticking it out more, but at least we tried.

Moment In Time Week7
Today our teacher asked us to write a ‘Moment In Time’ piece using a picture of a boy in the water. We planned as a class to make sure we had the 5 W’s and the 6 Senses.
Before we began our writing in small groups we discussed the importance of using descriptive writing, using similes and metaphors where appropriate, using dialogue and have done our best to make sure our punctuation is correct. Some of us have even used ‘Show Don’t Tell’ in our writing to provide our reader with more of an experience.
Our teacher gave us 10 minutes for each paragraph and then 10 minutes for editing at the end. We had so much fun working together!
If you have a moment, we would love you to comment on our writing.
Boy Overboard!
Jack was water skiing when he saw a group of sharks swimming towards him. Jack was so frightened that he let go of the rope and fell on his back slap Jack started to drown. The closer the sharks got to Jack the more frightened Jack became. He could taste the sea water dripping from his mouth. “HELP! HELP!”
Jack saw the sharks swimming closer and closer “HELP! HELP! SOMEBODY HELP!” Jack screamed. The sharks finally surrounded Jack when he felt like his heart was going to jump out of his chest. One of the sharks lunged forward and tried to bite Jack but he was too fast for the shark and he just dodged in time. Then the next shark then the next and so on.
The final shark managed to bite Jacks leg “AHHH” screamed Jack as the blood was oozing out of his leg like a tree with tree sap sliding down the tree trunk. But Jack didn’t only scream because of the blood he also screamed because the sea salt got sucked into his leg like a vacuum. It was only Jack and the sharks alone in the salty sea water. Jack knew this was the end but was it?….

What I did well was putting interesting words

I think I put in some descriptive words to make it interesting for the reader.

The Elixir of Love
Jaxs fish ‘n’ chips
Purpose: Thank you note
Dear Jax
Thank you for coming to Rangikura school and sharing your opera.
The thing that I found cool was how interested Nemo was to the elixir of love, but I think it was because he had the best chance of this girl falling in love with him. I also liked all the actors voices they were so loud and proud, so smooth actually so smooth that I couldn’t even here a single drop. I really liked the show especially Nemo and Docs handshake because they just met then they both had the same idea of a handshake. The funniest part for me was how Nemo only had 50 cents.
Here is a photo of my favourite moment during school.
Yours sincerely
Philip

Me
This is my art I have been working on for nine weeks. It shows all about me and my family, if you can't really see I have my mihi, whanaungatanga, definitions for whanaungatanga and manaakitanga, identity artwork and my face photo artwork.
Whanaungatanga means a sense of belonging to a group and manaakitanga is all the steps to whanaungatanga, for example, hospitality, partnership, protection and participation.
It's hard to see my mihi but it says who my principal is, what my school name is, my room number and who my Teacher is. It also says Where I am from, what my family name is, my normal name and how old I am.
Please leave a comment, thank you
Sincerely Philip

Venn diagram
This is my Venn diagram.
In my group we talked about the Venn diagram and who knew and
didn't know. We had two journals one about how Fiji people fish
and one about how the Tokelau people fish. We used the Venn
diagram to see the differences and similarities. The Venn diagram
is used for seeing the differences and similarities between two things.
I wrote what was different and what was the same.
